Dear everyone

We are currently living in strange and unprecedented circumstances. I know that many of us are having a tough time at the moment.

Some people are separated from their families and friends. Some people at high risk from coronavirus are having to shield themselves and are feeling isolated. Some people have been struggling to obtain food and medication. Some people are having to cope with sickness among their PAs and carers. Some people have become seriously ill and ended up in intensive care. Some people have lost loved ones and are grieving.

Whatever your situation, I want you to know that Action on Disability is here to support you. Although our office is closed, rest assured that our expert staff are still working hard in their homes to assist disabled people in West London. We will do what we can to help you through the difficulties you’re facing and if we can’t help you ourselves, we can signpost you to people who can.

This is a particularly worrying time for disabled people and it’s more important than ever that disabled people unite and have a say at local and national level in the decisions that affect our lives. I would therefore strongly encourage you to become a member of AoD. AoD exists to fight for your interests, uphold your rights and tackle your concerns. The more members we have, the stronger disabled people’s voice will be.

Any disabled person in West London is entitled to become a member of AoD and membership is free. Just email info@aod.org.uk or ring 020 7381 2042. If you’re not sure if you’re a member then you’re welcome to contact us and we can let you know. If you know any other disabled people, then it would be wonderful if you could encourage them to join AoD too.

Please also keep in touch with us. The best way for us to contact you to share our latest news is by email. If you’re happy for us to email you, let us know by emailing us at info@aod.org.uk or calling 020 7381 2042If you’re not receiving regular communications from us, then I recommend you sign up to our e-newsletter.

We are committed to giving you regular updates across social media so do keep an eye on our Twitter and Facebook posts as well. More information about our services can be found on our website – www.aod.org.uk – together with news on our campaigns and events.
