About the Course

This transformative course offers an in-depth exploration of disability activism’s history, the core principles and practices of co-production, and diverse perspectives on disability. Our aim is to equip participants with the knowledge and skills to drive change, focusing on:

  • The History of Disability Activism: Understanding the roots and evolution of the disability rights movement.
  • Principles and Practices of Co-production: Learning how to effectively collaborate with all stakeholders to design and deliver services.
  • Perspectives on Disability: Examining how different views on disability can influence policies and practices.
  • Opportunities for Change: Identifying and leveraging opportunities to advocate for disability rights and inclusion.
  • The Politics of Disability: Navigating the political landscape to promote the Independent Living Agenda.
  • Making Co-production a Reality: Practical strategies for implementing co-production in service design and delivery.
  • Involving Disabled People’s Organisations (DPOs): Strengthening the role of DPOs in co-production processes.
  • Setting Co-production Priorities: Through skills training and connecting with local opportunities, setting actionable priorities for co-production.

  • Free to Attend: There is no cost to participate in this course, and attendees will be remunerated for their time.
